It is with deep sadness I have to announce that The Studio @ Clapham has permanently closed due to the financial impact of the COVID pandemic. I now live in Norfolk where I continue my Art Practice and teaching. Anyone wishing to follow my progress will find me on Instagram @jaynebuntingceramics or on my website jaynebuntingceramics.com
The Studio @ Clapham is an inspiring and creative space. Located in the peaceful rural setting of the South Downs National Park with great views of the surrounding countryside, it is the perfect place to unwind.
I offer short ‘project based’ pottery workshops for Adults and Children or why not try tuition tailored to your individual requirements? Class participant numbers are kept very low to ensure that you get all the help and attention that you need, with suitable activities whether you are a total beginner or have experience with clay.
My approach is relaxed and informal, with an emphasis on having fun and being creative with clay.
HI! I’m Jayne, your pottery and ceramics artist and instructor.
My first experience of working with clay was at school where we had the opportunity to hand-build our very own ‘Piggy Bank’. Then in my early twenty’s I learnt the basics of how to throw on a wheel during an evening Pottery Class. Just a few years later (cough, cough) having enjoyed a long and successful career in Training & Leadership Development and Human Resources, I woke up one morning unable to face going to work. Instead, I arrived at an emergency appointment with my GP suffering from high blood pressure, anaemia, early onset diabetes, hair loss, and physical and mental exhaustion.
The outcome of this being a life changing decision to leave the corporate world and return to education, fulfilling a long-held dream to study Art. Within six months all of my symptoms had disappeared to such an extent that I was no longer in need of any medication. In 2015 I Graduated with a BA with Honours Fine Art Degree and went on to study at UCA Farnham, After completing a further three years of ceramic research and practice I currently work from my home studio where I make unique hand decorated pieces and teach hand-building and throwing skills to adults and children. I also work as a Sessional Pottery Lecturer at Northbrook Metropolitan College in Worthing.
