Monster Pinch Pot’s – 1/2 day (Kids)
So it’s a few days into half-term and the kids are moaning that they’re bored already. Well here’s the ideal opportunity to get them out of your hair for a little while. This workshop is designed especially for them.
In this project the participants will be taught how to create a pinch pot. Dating back thousands of years, ‘pinching the clay’ is the most simple form of hand-made pottery. Once their pot is complete, they will turn it on it’s side and make it into a monster! Students will add eyes, legs, horns, fins, teeth, tails, tongues, spines, ears, tails and more using scoring techniques.
Using only a ball of clay and their hands they will create one or several monsters during the workshop, depending on their speed and the size of the pot. We’ll then decorate the monster pots with ‘slip’ (coloured liquid clay) or under-glaze paints. Carving tools will be available to carve patterns into the clay.
All materials are included in the price of the workshop, including the glazing and firing of the work. You will be informed when your finished work is ready for collection at a later date.
Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Sorry, this workshop is for CHILDREN ONLY (AGE 6 – 14 ). Younger children can attend if supervised by an adult.
Other workshops are available for Adults and Families, contact Jayne for details.
